Hygiene care
Bleeding gums are a very common symptom of periodontal disease. Gingivitis the early stage of periodontal disease is an inflammation of the gum tissue caused by bacteria. The ginigival tissue forms a blood blisters inside the pockets and when they are disturbed for example brushing, they break open and blood rises to the top of the gingiva.
Plaque is a clear sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on teeth. Bacteria found in plaque create toxic chemicals that irritate the gums. Eventually these bacteria cause the underlying bone around the teeth to be destroyed, a condition known as gum disease.
The bacteria found in plaque causes periodontal disease. If plaque is not regularly removed, it calcifies into a rough, porous deposit called calculus, or tartar. By products of bacterial metabolism irritate the gums, making them red, tender, swollen and more prone to bleed.
Conscientious removal of plaque by flossing, brushing and regular professional cleanings will minimise your risk of gum disease.
As the plaque and calculus accumulate, the periodontal disease continues. Supporting tissues around the teeth (gums, periodontal ligaments, bone) are lost.

Advances in dentistry over the years have lead to the low radiation levels emitted by dental X-rays. Also, the use of lead-lined, full-body aprons protects the body from stray radiation.
While bad breath (or “halitosis”) can be linked to numerous systemic diseases, the majority of bad breath originates in the mouth. A dry mouth or a low salivary flow can also influence bad odour.
Fluoride is a mineral that is naturally present in varying amounts in many foods and some water supplies. It is also used in many consumer dental products. Fluoride strengthens teeth making it more resistant to decay.

There are numerous methods of teeth whitening that range in price and ease of use. The premise behind most teeth whitening methods is essentially the same — a form of hydrogen peroxide finds its way into the pores of the teeth and bleaches stained particles. At ONE STOP DENTAL CAER we recommend a consultation before making a choice so that your time and money are well spent.

White fillings are usually made of a composite resin based material.
The biggest advantage is that white fillings are more aesthetic and have a beautiful, natural appearance to it. They have the ability help strengthen your tooth, prevent breakages and provide insulation for your teeth and reduce sensitivity making them the modern way to fill a cavity.
White fillings have always been considered less long-lasting than silver fillings. But there are now materials that are comparable to a silver filling. The longevity of a white filling will vary depending on where it is in the mouth.
